Musei Magna Opera combines both formal and speculative design, fulfilling its functional purpose while questioning its own aesthetic, encouraging thought and curiosity. Formed through various manipulative processes, the museum’s abstract interior is shaped by the edges of its walls and ceiling, suggesting a path that is disrupted by unusual geometry. In terms of materiality, the museum reflects its context, using stone from nearby government buildings and shingles that echo Philadelphia’s residential architecture.
